Etching

I resketched and etched Mr. Frog on copper today, adding a bunch of minor details. Copper isn’t the best material to photograph.

Try to photograph it in good lighting, with no flash. and it sitting up against a wall with no shadow on the front of it. I’m glad you are having fun in the printmaking class. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

This is a shot taken from under a desk with the no-flash iPhone camera. So, very minimal light. Good lighting = complete washout. :/ You can even see the iPhone’s reflection without any foreground lighting!

Borrow/steal a scanner!

I’ve got one but I don’t want the rough plate surface to scratch the scanner! :p

Get a sheet of acetate or just clear plastic and put it on the bed of the scanner, then put the plate on top of that.

Hmm, I could try that. I wonder if it would make a good scan with all the light bouncing around off the copper. Will be interesting to see!
