More explorations with ink. A bit darker this time!

Creeper Colored

I posted a black and white sketch of this earlier. I’ve spent at least two hours coloring and processing it in Photoshop at this point, and I’m pretty pleased with it.

Cluttered Ink Still-Life

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments

Drawing a bunch of junk, including a frame, a few partial mannequins, a basketball, a milk carton, and some plants. It’s a bit hard to decipher, but has some things I’m fairly pleased with. Click on the small image for a larger-sized one where you can get into the cool ink-on-newsprint texture (I must say I can’t get enough of that!)

In waiting

A fairly quick sketch done while waiting for someone. I had to mess with the levels in PS because it was not dark enough to view originally.

Reading In Bed (Again)

Here we go with a different angle on a subject I tackled two weeks ago. This time I tried just pencil instead of ink and pencil, and sat on the dresser to gain some perspective.

Perspective Study

Friday, April 24th, 2009 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments

Two drawings for the price of one! I drew this perspective study while out at the barn. Getting perspective, angles, etc. right is always a struggle for me, so this is an attempt to force myself to deal with a common problem in my drawings by confronting it head-on. I may continue this drawing later, but here’s what I’ve got for now: staring into the barn.

(Click the image for a larger version)

This next image is a freebie; I drew it on the way over to the barn, just to get my artistic juices flowing. I’d swear the fingers looked like this, but in retrospect it all looks kind of weird and the hand looks a bit doughy. So it goes!

Practicing ink drawing. I’ve got some experience at this, but still consider myself a novice. Click the drawing to open a larger version (drawing originally on 18×24” newsprint).

New Link: Monsieur Pimpant

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 | Felix | No Comments

Steve and Jim-san threw up some links a long time ago. I only got around to it now, since I’ve involved myself more in the ‘drawing’ aspect of this project than the community angle. I also haven’t written much of anything in a while, but now seemed like a good time.

Monsieur Pimpant’s a French guy (well, Belgian now), which is practically all I know about him. I ran into his work on TeeFury, where he drew this shirt. I was struck by its weird power (I would never wear such a shirt), and went to check out his blog. The guy draws amazing pencil drawings. Really inspirational. Now you can check it out for yourself. Make sure to click the thumbnails so you can see the real deal.

See you all later today with some more drawings!

Monstrous, Etc.

Feeling awfully lonely in this blog. Well, whatever. I’ll keep drawing, and you guys catch up when you have time.
